Jonathan Fournel (born 1993 in Sarreguemines, France) is a French pianist who won the Grand Prix at the 2021 Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels. Trained at the Paris Conservatoire and the Chapelle Musicale Reine Elisabeth, he has since performed at venues including the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg and the Wigmore Hall. His recordings for Alpha Classics - covering Brahms, Mozart and Chopin-Szymanowski - have earned widespread critical acclaim.
Fournel bracht samen met violist Kerson Leong het album 'Fauré: Sonatas for Violin and Piano, Transcriptions' uit op Alpha Classics (29 mei 2026).
Fournel kondigde drie nieuwe concertdata aan in Japan en Zuid-Korea, met orkesten en dirigenten.
Fournel was te gast in het radioprogramma 'Les Grands entretiens' van Judith Chaine op France Musique.
Fournel maakte zijn debuut bij de Wigmore Hall en La Seine Musicale, en trad op als artist-in-residence in de Edesche Concertzaal.
Fournel werd aangesteld als artistiek directeur van het festival Les Songes Musicaux du Saulnois, een functie die hij sinds 2025 bekleedt.
