About

Huun-Huur-Tu are a throat-singing ensemble from Tuva, a Russian republic on the Mongolian border, founded in 1992. Their hallmark is khoomei, a technique in which a single singer simultaneously produces a drone and its overtones, yielding two or three audible pitches at once. Playing traditional instruments such as the igil, doshpuluur and khomus (Tuvan jaw harp), they have brought Tuvan nomadic music to world stages for over three decades while collaborating with Western artists.
