Massada ft. Hans Dulfer
Saxophonist Hans Dulfer returns to Podium Aan Zee, this time with Massada. A blend of jazz and Latin rock with energetic percussion awaits.
Hans Dulfer (born 1940 in Amsterdam) is a self-taught Dutch tenor saxophonist who has been performing since 1957. He became one of the Netherlands' best-known and most idiosyncratic sax players, blending raw funk, jazz and latin influences, and scored a major breakthrough with the 1994 album Big Boy, which also made him a star in Japan. He is the father of saxophonist Candy Dulfer, with whom he recorded the 2002 album Dulfer & Dulfer, and has collaborated over the decades with artists such as Herman Brood, John McLaughlin and Willem Breuker.
Hans Dulfer opened the Red Light Jazz Festival with his band on June 5, 2026 at the Casa Rosso Theater in Amsterdam.
Dulfer's birthday show on May 26, 2026 at Paradiso, two days before his 86th birthday, was sold out.
In 2025, Dulfer celebrated his 85th birthday with an extensive tour through the Netherlands, during which his successful albums Big Boy, Dig! and Skin Deep were released on vinyl for the first time.
At the end of 2024, the acoustic album Bennink & Dulfer was released.
