Genesis Owusu
Australian rapper and singer Genesis Owusu brings hip-hop and R&B to Rotown.
Genesis Owusu, born Kofi Owusu-Ansah in Koforidua, Ghana in 1998, moved to Canberra as a toddler and grew up as part of the only Black family in his neighbourhood. His 2021 debut Smiling with No Teeth swept Australia's three biggest music prizes - the ARIA Album of the Year, the Australian Music Prize and Triple J's J Award - a first for any artist. Spanning hip-hop, funk, post-punk and soul, his music has grown more politically charged with each release, culminating in his third album Redstar Wu & the Worldwide Scourge (2026).
Genesis Owusu released his third studio album Redstar Wu & the Worldwide Scourge via Ourness, a 14-track work that combines neo-soul, synth-punk and deep funk.
Genesis Owusu announced a European and British tour for November and December 2026, with stops in Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Berlin and Paris, among others.
The single 'Stampede' appeared as the third preview of the new album.
On Halloween, Genesis Owusu released the single 'Death Cult Zombie', the second preview of his third album.
Genesis Owusu returned after two years of silence with the single 'Pirate Radio', his first release since the album Struggler.
