About

Focus is a Dutch progressive rock band founded in Amsterdam in 1969 by keyboardist, flautist and vocalist Thijs van Leer. They broke through internationally with Moving Waves (1971) and the single 'Hocus Pocus', building a reputation on a distinctive blend of rock, jazz and classical music. Van Leer - knighted in 2008 as the first musician ever to receive that honour in the Netherlands - continues to front the band alongside drummer Pierre van der Linden, guitarist Menno Gootjes and bassist Udo Pannekeet.
