Exhorder is an American thrash/groove metal band from New Orleans, founded in 1985 by vocalist and guitarist Kyle Thomas. They are widely credited as early pioneers of the groove-oriented thrash sound later popularised by bands such as Pantera and Machine Head. After a 27-year recording gap, the band returned in 2019 with Mourn the Southern Skies on Nuclear Blast Records, and followed it up with their fourth studio album Defectum Omnium in March 2024.
Drummer Sasha Horn left Exhorder after more than eight years; God Forbid drummer Corey Pierce temporarily takes his place.
Exhorder announced the 'Tour of Unsound Minds' for spring 2026, with Corey Pierce behind the drums.
Singer Kyle Thomas confirmed that Exhorder is working on material for a fifth studio album, with an expected release in 2027.
Exhorder performed at Wacken Open Air and various other European festivals and club shows as part of the summer tour 2025.
The fourth studio album Defectum Omnium was released on March 8, 2024 via Nuclear Blast Records, with twelve tracks and artwork by Travis Smith.
