Etana (born Shauna Melissa McKenzie, Kingston, Jamaica, 1983) is a Jamaican reggae singer and independent label owner who runs her own Freemind Music Records. She broke through with her debut album The Strong One (2008) and has since earned two Grammy nominations for Best Reggae Album, establishing herself as one of the most respected voices in contemporary roots reggae. Her music weaves together roots reggae, soul and R&B, with lyrics centred on women's empowerment, spirituality and social awareness.
