Dropout Kings are an American nu-metal and rap-metal band from Phoenix, Arizona, formed in 2016 by vocalist Adam Ramey following the breakup of his previous band The Bad Chapter. Originally called Phoenix Down, they signed to Napalm Records and released their debut album AudioDope in 2018, establishing themselves as pioneers of the trap-metal sound. Co-founder and frontman Adam Ramey died in May 2025 at age 32; the band subsequently released the tribute album Yokai and have continued touring with the remaining lineup.
Dropout Kings released the album Yokai digitally on August 8, 2025 as a tribute to frontman Adam Ramey, who died in May 2025; the physical edition followed on November 7, 2025 via Napalm Records.
Co-founder and singer Adam Ramey died on May 19, 2025 at the age of 32; the cause of death was not disclosed by the band.
Dropout Kings performed in August 2025 at the Reload Festival in Sulingen, Germany.
The band tours in the summer of 2026 as support for Ded on 'The Anti-Everything Tour' through cities such as Clifton (NJ), Boston and Colorado Springs.
In January 2025 the band toured as support for The Browning through multiple American cities, together with Filth and The Defect.
