Draumkvedet ("the dream ballad") is a Norwegian visionary poem believed to date from the medieval period, as Christianity was taking hold in Norway. It tells of a dream journey through heaven and hell and was passed down orally for centuries in the traditional kveding singing style. It ranks among the best-known works of Old Norwegian folk literature and is still performed by contemporary folk singers.
