About

Despised Icon are a Canadian deathcore band from Montreal, formed in 2002 and widely credited as one of the genre's founding acts. Their signature sound pairs the contrasting vocal styles of Alex Erian and Steve Marois with drummer Alex Pelletier's ferocious blastbeats. After disbanding in 2010 and reuniting in 2014, they signed to Nuclear Blast Records and have since released three more albums, the latest of which - Shadow Work (2025) - won the Juno Award for Metal/Hard Music Album of the Year.
