Dea Matrona
Northern Irish duo Dea Matrona brings their dark, politically charged second album 'Hate That I Care' to Amsterdam's Melkweg.
Dea Matrona are a rock duo from Belfast, formed by Mollie McGinn and Orláith Forsythe in 2018. Starting out as buskers on the streets of Belfast, they quickly graduated to supporting acts like Sting and The Darkness. Their name derives from Celtic mythology, meaning 'Divine Mother Goddess'. Their second album 'Hate That I Care' (2026, AWAL Recordings), written and produced entirely by the band, marks a confident shift into darker alt-rock territory.
The second album 'Hate That I Care' was released on 5 June 2026 via AWAL Recordings, entirely written and produced by the band themselves.
Hot Press rated 'Hate That I Care' 7/10 and described it as a darker and emotionally more intense work than the debut.
The title track 'Hate That I Care' was released on 5 March 2026 as a single via AWAL Recordings.
Dea Matrona concluded their first full UK and Ireland headline tour with a home show at Mandela Hall, Belfast.
Dea Matrona is scheduled on 18 March 2027 at Melkweg in Amsterdam as part of an extensive European tour.
