About

David Dorůžka (Prague, 1980) is a Czech jazz guitarist and composer who began performing professionally at fourteen. After studying at Berklee College of Music in Boston and spending time in New York, he returned to Europe and established himself as one of the leading figures on the Czech jazz scene. He has won the Czech Anděl Award in the jazz category four times - for Hidden Paths (2004), Silently Dawning (2008), Autumn Tales (2016) and Gilgul (2023) - and has collaborated with international artists including Jeff Ballard, Django Bates and Lizz Wright.

    Dorůžka released the album How Little We Dream in April 2026, his third duo album with singer Marta Kloučková, released on Bivak Records.

    The duo Kloučková & Dorůžka performed at Jazz Open Ostrava 2026, where they played songs from their new album.

    The album Gilgul (2023), recorded with flutist Robert Fischmann and drummer Martin Novák, won the Anděl Prize 2023 in the jazz category.

    Dorůžka released the album When the Child Was a Child together with pianist Piotr Wyleżoł.
