Daniel Rosin is a freelance baroque cellist who, after conventional cello training, specialised in historical performance practice at institutions including the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Basel. He appears as guest principal cellist with ensembles such as Vox Luminis, Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin and the Bach-Stiftung, while his primary focus remains chamber music - documented on recordings for Deutsche Grammophon, Glossa and Deutsche Harmonia Mundi, among others. He also holds teaching posts in baroque cello and continuo practice at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts and the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts.
Rosin released the album 'Sonate Accademiche - An Anthology' (Veracini) together with violist Eva Saladin and harpsichordist Johannes Keller on Challenge Classics.
The album 'Beyond Bach - Forgotten Treasures of the German Baroque' was released on ARS Produktion, with Rosin as one of the performers.
The review site Biberfan.org gave a positive review of the 'Sonate Accademiche' recording and called Rosin's playing characteristic of his approach.
