Cuarteto Quiroga is a Spanish string quartet founded in 2003, named after the Galician violinist Manuel Quiroga, one of the most celebrated string players in Spanish music history. The four musicians - Aitor Hevia and Cibrán Sierra (violins), Josep Puchades (viola) and Helena Poggio (cello) - trained at Madrid's Escuela Reina Sofía and the Musikakademie Basel, and have won prizes at several major international competitions. Praised by The New York Times for its 'exquisite and interpretively fresh performances' and winner of Spain's 2018 National Music Award, the quartet performs at leading venues across Europe and the Americas while championing both the classical canon and new music.
The ninth studio album of the quartet, 'Arriaga: Complete String Quartets', was released on Cobra Records; the recording took place in September 2025 in the WestVest90 church in Schiedam.
Cuarteto Quiroga is scheduled at the Kölner Philharmonie on 25 November 2026.
The quartet performed on 17 January 2026 during the Iberia Composers Day in Maastricht.
Cuarteto Quiroga represented Spain at Europalia España 2025 with a concert at Bozar Brussels on 16 November 2025.
The quartet became the first ensemble-in-residence of the Royal Palace of Madrid in 2013, where it performs on a unique set of decorated Stradivari instruments.
