Cryptosis is a progressive thrash metal trio from Enschede, Netherlands, formed in 2020 from the ashes of thrash act Distillator. The band - Laurens Houvast (guitar, vocals), Frank te Riet (bass, mellotron, synths) and Marco Prij (drums) - signed to Century Media Records after an anonymous demo submission caught the label's ear. Their 2021 debut Bionic Swarm put them on the international extreme metal map; sophomore album Celestial Death (March 2025) pushes further into black metal textures, mellotron atmospherics and a darker, more cinematic sound.
Cryptosis and Nephylim announce a joint Dutch club tour in autumn 2025, with Cryptosis performing Celestial Death in its entirety.
Cryptosis plays on 12 August 2025 at Doornroosje in Nijmegen as support for Obituary.
Celestial Death is released on 7 March 2025 via Century Media Records and is received positively worldwide by the metal press.
On 29 March 2025, Cryptosis celebrates the release of Celestial Death with an album release show at Metropool in Enschede.
Cryptosis tours through Europe in summer 2025 as support for Obscura on the Stardust tour through North America.
