BRUIT ≤ is an experimental post-rock quartet from Toulouse, France, formed in 2016 by musicians who had previously played in major-label pop bands. Their instrumental music layers heavy guitars with strings and electronics, while political texts appear as spoken word or in liner notes - and the band maintains a principled boycott of major streaming platforms. Their 2021 debut *The Machine Is Burning and Now Everyone Knows It Could Happen Again* (Pelagic Records) became the label's second-best-selling release during the pandemic; in 2025 they followed it with *The Age of Ephemerality*, recorded in the Pyrénées mountains and a 160-year-old church in Toulouse.
The second album *The Age of Ephemerality* was released on April 25, 2025 via Pelagic Records - not available on major streaming platforms.
In April 2025, the band performed a live session at the KEXP studios in Seattle, which was made available online.
BRUIT ≤ performed at Pelagic Fest 2025 in Maastricht (Muziekgieterij).
The band toured as support for Alcest through France, Switzerland and the Benelux, with a performance in Nijmegen (Doornroosje) on October 25, 2025.
In April 2026, BRUIT ≤ performed a series of concerts in China, including in Beijing, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
