Scottish folk band Breabach performs traditional and contemporary music at De Oosterpoort.
Breabach is a Scottish folk band formed in Glasgow in 2005, now firmly established as one of Scotland's foremost contemporary folk acts. The five-piece - Megan Henderson (fiddle, vocals, step dance), Calum MacCrimmon and Conal McDonagh (Highland bagpipes, uilleann pipes, whistle), Ewan Robertson (guitar) and James Lindsay (double bass) - roots its sound in Highland and Island Gaelic tradition while embracing progressive influences. Eight studio albums, six Scots Trad Music Awards and stages ranging from the Sydney Opera House to Central Park in New York mark out a career of genuine international reach.
Breabach performed as part of the Grand Ole Opry Live event at the Royal Albert Hall in London, alongside artists such as Luke Combs and Mumford & Sons.
The band celebrates its twentieth anniversary with a jubilee tour through the United Kingdom, the United States and Europe.
Breabach collaborated with the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra during Celtic Connections in Glasgow.
Breabach received the Quarterly Critic's Choice from the German Record Critics' Award for their album Fàs.
The band released their eighth studio album Fàs, produced by Inge Thomson and inspired by Scottish nature and climate change.
