Boudewijn de Groot (born 20 May 1944 in Batavia, now Jakarta) is a Dutch singer-songwriter whose career stretches across more than six decades. He rose to fame in the 1960s with Dutch-language songs written to lyrics by his longtime collaborator Lennaert Nijgh - tracks such as 'Welterusten mijnheer de president' (1966) and 'Het land van Maas en Waal' established him as one of the founding figures of Nederpop. His work blends poetic, socially engaged texts with melodic folk and pop arrangements.
Boudewijn de Groot is admitted in September 2026 to the very first cohort of the Dutch Songwriters Wall of Fame, a hall of fame for legendary Dutch composers and songwriters.
