Blackbird is the stage name of Merel Koman (born 21 March 1987 in 's-Hertogenbosch), a Dutch singer-songwriter who grew up in the Limburg village of Kessel and studied jazz and pop at the HKU conservatory in Utrecht. She broke through with the EP 'One of the Wild Ones' and earned multiple NPO Radio 2 TopSong credits with singles including 'Tell Your Mama' and 'Built and Broken'. Her third studio album 'Do You Read Me!?', recorded in Berlin with producer Niels Zuiderhoek, came out in May 2026 and was described by NRC as "een sprankelende popplaat" (a sparkling pop record).
