BIG | BRAVE is a Canadian experimental metal trio from Montreal, formed in 2012 by guitarist/vocalist Robin Wattie and guitarist Mathieu Ball. Drummer Tasy Hudson joined in 2019, completing a lineup of two guitars and drums - no bass. Across ten studio albums on Thrill Jockey and Southern Lord, the band has carved out a singular space in heavy music, building slow, feedback-driven compositions that move between drone doom, post-metal and folk.
Tenth studio album *in grief or in hope* was released on June 12, 2026 via Thrill Jockey; for the first time, touring bassist Liam Andrews was brought into the studio.
BIG | BRAVE announced a European spring tour in March 2026, with shows in Utrecht and Amsterdam as the starting point on May 24 and 25.
The band announced a North American tour together with The Body - their first American tour in two years.
Album *OST* (2025) was released via Thrill Jockey; it was improvised in the studio and subsequently visually scored.
*A Chaos of Flowers* (April 2024) contains lyrics based on poems by, among others, Emily Dickinson, Renée Vivien and Akiko Yosano, selected by Robin Wattie.
