About

Amsterdam Sinfonietta is a Dutch string orchestra founded in 1988 that performs without a permanent conductor. Under the artistic direction of violinist Candida Thompson, its 23 musicians approach every programme with the intimacy of chamber music. The ensemble gives around 65 concerts a year, appearing at venues such as the Elbphilharmonie, Teatro Colón and Barbican Hall alongside top soloists including Janine Jansen, Kian Soltani and Fazıl Say. It regularly commissions new works and has released more than 16 albums on its house label Channel Classics.
