Amorphis is a Finnish metal band founded in Helsinki in 1990 by guitarists Esa Holopainen and Tomi Koivusaari and drummer Jan Rechberger. Starting out as a death metal act, they gradually developed a distinctive sound built on melodic guitars, progressive song structures and a mix of harsh and clean vocals. Albums such as Tales from the Thousand Lakes (1994) and Queen of Time (2018) are considered landmarks of European melodic metal. With fifteen studio albums to their name, they rank among the most influential Finnish metal bands.
The fifteenth studio album Borderland was released on 26 September 2025 via Reigning Phoenix Music, produced by Jacob Hansen in Denmark.
The first single 'Light And Shadow' was released on 6 June 2025, accompanied by an official lyric video.
Amorphis announced the 'Blood Dynasty' European tour for October-November 2025, together with Arch Enemy, Eluveitie and Gatecreeper.
The band entered the studio in January 2025 to record their fifteenth album.
