Alceu Valença (born July 1, 1946, in São Bento do Una, Pernambuco) is a Brazilian singer, guitarist, and songwriter who has spent more than five decades weaving northeastern folk traditions - frevo, baião, maracatu, forró - into a distinctive MPB sound that also draws on rock and electronic textures. He debuted in 1972 alongside Geraldo Azevedo and broke into the mainstream in the 1980s with enduring hits such as 'Anunciação' and 'Morena Tropicana'. Across more than twenty albums and tours spanning Portugal, France, the Netherlands, and the United States, he is widely regarded as one of the foremost ambassadors of Pernambuco's musical culture.
Alceu Valença announced the '80 Girassóis' tour to celebrate his eightieth birthday, with shows in multiple Brazilian cities including Belo Horizonte (Estádio Mineirão).
