The Chameleons is een Britse post-punkband uit Middleton, Manchester, opgericht in 1981. Hun geluid combineert donkere, atmosferische gitaarlagen met melodieuze zang - een stijl die later invloedrijk bleek voor de gothrock en alternatieve rock. Het debuutalbum Script of the Bridge (1983) geldt als hun bekendste werk.
