Whisky in de Bajes
Koepelgevangenis, Arnhem · € 32,50
On Saturday afternoon, 6 March 2027, Whiskyjongens hosts a whisky event at the Koepelgevangenis in Arnhem.
The Koepel opened in 1886 as a prison and was designed as a circular building with cells arranged around a central post. This unique layout allowed guards to monitor all prisoners with minimal staff. Today, the building features an indoor space of over 2,000 m².
Various vendors - both local and international - will be present. You choose from hundreds of whisky varieties using tokens. Expected participants include The Chamberick, Twentse Ketels, Bronckhorst, Moutmolen/3006 Whisky, Moët Hennessy and Craft Spirits. Live music will be performed on stage in the main hall.
In The Underground, the subterranean space beneath the Koepelgevangenis, two masterclasses take place on separately bookable tickets:
• 14:00 - 14:45: Masterclass #1 - Twentse Ketels
• 15:30 - 16:15: Masterclass #2 - Moët Hennessy with Brand Ambassador Melissa Vrijbloed (focus on Glenmorangie and Ardbeg)
Before and at the start of the event, you can book a guided tour with a former guard through the cells, isolation wing, chapel and exercise yards. The guide shares stories about daily life behind prison walls and the people who were held there. Catering is provided in De Kas, where you can get food and refreshments. There is also plenty of seating to relax.
