Connie Palmen is a Dutch novelist whose work circles around identity, love and loss. Her debut The Laws (1991) became a major bestseller and was translated into dozens of languages. Her later novel I Said (2015), about her relationship with British poet Ted Hughes, further cemented her place among the most widely read literary writers in the Netherlands.
